Three Etudes

For my composition class, I was assigned to do three etudes, just like we did towards the beginning of our class. I, for some reason, could not record the screen along with the internal audio for my mac. I tried using the soundflower extension too but it wouldn't work. So I decided to just record it with my phone instead. Click here for the etude video

Soundwalk for some cool sounds!

Here is a soundwalk around my house, and it has some really cool and gritty sounds in it 😀. Hope you like it. Click here for the SoundWalk Video P.S. I couldn't upload the video to blogger because supposedly it was over the size limit that blogger allows. So I provided the google drive link for the video. Let me know if you have any difficulties accessing it.

Paul Lansky Listening

Growing up in two of the world's biggest cities, Manchester and New Delhi, I have a pretty good sense of the inspiration behind and the underlying idea of the piece. At some point, even I thought of composing of a piece to reflect upon my big cities influence and one thing that would have been the most significant in it was the traffic.  It not horrible, it's not bad, it's not a hassle. It's just traffic, just people going from place to place in their cars. Even though its just traffic, it's different everywhere. I have noticed the difference in the sounds of traffic for every place I have lived in. For example, the traffic in Manchester was a lot of stopping and starting of the engines of the cars because of the taxi culture there. In New Delhi, it was mostly richie cars with their amazing suppressed engine sounds. In Tennessee, you can almost always hear a siren in the traffic and sometimes even catch someone honking. From Paul Lansky's piece, I was able t...

Pandemic Workspace Tour

Today, I show you into my temporary workspace that I have made my own, at my grandpa's place in Clarksville, Tennessee. Things are a little messy still since I had to move out of my dorm on a very short notice and had to haul everything to his place but bear with me. In this video, I get very raw, and tell you EXACTLY where I work (shhhhh). 😉

Planitaroom Recital

As the title suggests, my concert happened in my bedroom with my dog sleeping by me, since it was raining here in Clarksville, Tennessee.  All the lights were off and the room was completely dark. I could feel the unbelievably warm breath of my dog on my arm. I had downloaded all the songs onto my phone and loaded them into the playlist in reverse alphabetical order. I put my headphones on, turned the noise cancellation switch on, and pressed play. It was the most unique concert experience I've ever had. Once I was done, I didn't make any effort, I didn't even get up, I just laid there thinking, "Are we really alone in this universe?" The reason why I started on that chain of thought was because a lot of the compositions had that atoms. In fact, two compositions, Emily Stifter's and mine were about Aliens and ETA. Brooke's composition emphasised that atoms and that overall theme of the concert. Ben's "morning" sounds sounded very ghastly an...

Composition Update Week 4

Today I really got into the composition project for the recital. I dissecting the piece that I had in my head and putting that down in my DAW. I had a lot of conflicting ideas and so I found a middle ground to go along with where the piece was taking me. Sticking to what I had decided initially was a little hard, and I accepted the changes as they came along. I feel like not going by a set plan and kind of going in the general directional flow that the piece wants to go in is the best way to approach a project like this. I found some of the sounds that I had recorded extremely useful. I altered some sounds I gathered from nature into sounding like some orchestral instrument, or pretty close to one. I found a few new plugins that I am very excited to try, especially the new vocoders I got my hands on. I was also able to fix my windows/mac issues with my laptop and DAW and my DAW is finally up and working for good. With the composition recital inching closer, I am constantly taking i...
